Ironman 70.3
Well, it's a done deal...I signed up for the Ironman 70.3 race in New Orleans on April 5, 2009. Am I nuts?!?!?! Yeah, I think so too! Now, it's training time. There is nothing like waking up at 4:30 for a 5am swim twice a week, spinning followed by running twice a week, a long run, and a long road bike ride. I am crazy! I'll post some updates in the future...

Conservatism

I am an independent conservative. I left the Republican Party two years ago because I did not feel my values were being represented any longer.
This past election was an alienation election. The conservatives were and still are alienated politically. No one is looking out for our interests. The Democrat Party long again adopted the principles of socialism (national healthcare) and, in some instances, communism (ex. redistribution of wealth). In the last eight years the Republican Party lost its conservative ideals, morals, and identity. It became prideful and sought to empower itself without the consent of its foundation, true conservatives. The Republican Party began envying the big government ideals of the Democrat Party, and it tried to secretly weave those nasty threads of socialism into its creed (ex. Bush's prescription drug plan). Those threads stick out like purple against gold.
The conservative base of the Republican Party saw what was happening and we rejected it. We complained about it and we grumped about it and we fussed about it, but our objections fell on deaf ears. The party nominated a democrat in disguise to run for President, John McCain. Each time he said he was a maverick conservatives heard a different song. We heard a man who would be willing to compromise his values, even if it meant rejecting the sure footing of his foundation. We lost our party.
Obama won the election, not in referendum, but rather, because the conservative voter base of America was rejected by the Republican Party. Where do we go from here? We have two choices. 1 - We can hope that the Republican Party has taken the hint, and returns to its foundation of conservative values that offers the people an opportunity to succeed while keeping government out of our way. OR 2 - We can regroup under the standard of a truly conservative third party and seek empowerment at the polls in 2010, as was done in 1852 when the Republican Party was created.
I believe in America. I believe in capitalism. I believe a man should reap what he sows and keep what he rightfully earns. More than anything else, I believe in personal accountability. Its time for the Republican Party to be accountable and to apologize and ask forgiveness from its conservative base. Its time for the elected employees to remember who they work for.

Unfortunate

It's basically a done deal. The communists is going to win the presidency. America allowed the Gadiantan Robbers to take control of congress, and now the stupids are giving the presidency to the front-man of the secret combination. The Republicans are reaping what they sowed by nominating a democrat in disguise. Unfortunately, because of it the good people of this nation are going to pay the price. It is going to take a generation to fix the problems the next four years are going to create. Fortunately, I do see a light at the end of the tunnel. The Republican Party is going to return to its conservative roots. In two years there will be a referendum nationwide that returns the Congress to an overwhelming conservative majority. In four years, the Republican Party is going to be intelligent enough to nominate an up-and-coming, ultra-conservative candidate such as Bobby Jindal (LA's governor). In the election four years from now, Obama will lose in a landslide worse than Jimmy Carter's loss to Ronald Reagan.
